Oyo State Govt Receives #ENDSARS Report
Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, received the report of the panel set up by the state government to investigate the circumstances surrounding the #ENDSARS demonstration that occured in the state in October, 2020.
The panel, headed by a former Chief Judge of the state, Justice Badejoko Adeniji, was tagged Judicial Panel of Inquiry into Police Brutality and Other Related Matters in Oyo State.
It was mandated to look into the circumstances of the violence that attended the #ENDSARS protest, particularly as it affected loss of lives and destruction of public and private properties in the state.
It would be recalled that the initial peaceful #ENDSARS protest, embarked upon in some states against the alleged brutality and extortion of citizens, snowballed into violent crisis.
The violence lead to loss of lives and destruction of properties, and these are especially more pronounced in several parts of Lagos and Oyo states.
The outcome of the protest lead Governor Seyi Makinde to set up the panel of inquiry to look into the circumstances of the violence that attended the otherwise peaceful rally.
